No digital Xbox 360 connections?

OK, I completely missed this, but the folks over at HD Beat didn't. Has anyone else noticed that despite Microsoft's raving about supporting the best hi-definition experiences on XBox 360, there is no way to output digital HDTV signals from an XBox 360? The Core $299 XBox 360 system has no HDTV connections whatsoever (makes sense -- it's the entry level system, so the user is unlikely to have a HiDef system), but the standard $399 system only provides component (i.e., analog) cables as well. And while a VGA cable system is available, that's also an analog output, not digital. Further, given Microsoft's views on not allowing pirated digital data, the VGA output is likely to be resolution-constrained to satisfy their digital rights management concerns.

So the question is, will Sony's Playstation 3 console have a DVI or HMDI digital output for those who own a high definition TV? If so, there may be more opportunities for Sony to differentiate its offering from Microsoft's next year -- to Microsoft's disadvantage.
